The 60th Session of the Human Rights Council
8 September 2025 – 8 October 2025
Interactive Dialogue with Independent Expert on Central African Republic pursuant to HRC 60/89
(02 October 2025)
Statement of Association International Organization for the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (EAFORD)
Delivered by Minna Adlan
Thank you for the report and for all your efforts.
The International Organization for the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and Geneva International Centre for Justice express grave concern over the deteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in the Central African Republic.
Civilians continue to suffer the consequences of this protracted conflict. Armed groups as well as security forces continue to commit grave violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, targeting vulnerable populations.
This is not just a crisis of governance, it is a crisis of humanity. Every attack on a market, every obstruction of aid, every act of sexual violence, tears at the dignity and future of the Central African People.
We therefore stress 3 priorities:
1. Accountability: To provide full support to the Special Criminal Court and the ICC to deliver credible justice.
2. Protection of Civilians: Humanitarian Corridors must be guaranteed, and all parties must be pressed to stop attacks on displaced communities, women, and children.
3. Inclusive Peace: Any dialogue must place victims and civil society at its centre.
Mr. President, every day of delay only deepens the suffering. The people of the Central African Republic urgently need action, not just statements of concern. Silence and inaction means nothing but complicity.
Thank you.
