The 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council
8th September to 8th October 2025
ITEMS 2 & 7 Presentation of HC report on implementation of HRC res. 31/36
(30 September 2025)
Delivered by Angela Sanchez
(Thank you )
The role played by business enterprises is not only aiding and abetting this occupation, but ensuring its continuous existence. This fact can no longer be ignored. It was over a decade ago that the report of the Fact Finding Mission for implications of Israeli Settlement1, in 2013 gathered evidence demonstrating how business enterprises have, directly, and indirectly enabled, facilitated, and profited from the construction and growth of the Settlements. And whilst we welcome the start of the implementation of the Database pursuant to resolution 31/36 the necessary mechanisms to effectively continue to counter this corporate machinery are lacking. Where the State fails to monitor, business corporations (do) have the responsibility to assess the human rights impact of their activities, and seize activities. Instead, the Corporate conglomerate in occupied Palestine continues business as usual, supplying equipment, transport materials, and utilities; these are not only supporting and facilitating settlement expansion, but sustaining it. A primary International Criminal responseability falls on states whose violations have direct involvement in not only the apartheid but in the Genocide.
We strongly urge this council to ensure that the mandate given to the Office of the High Commissioner can be fully implemented, including a yearly update of all business enterprises, and the necessary resources for the office to continue reviewing the pending 700 submissions it is imperative for countering the corporate machinery’s continued violations of Human Rights.
Thank you.
