In this interview with Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel, the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki sends a direct and very clear threat to the Iraqi people demonstrating for the restoration of their human rights.

In the interview, he says; "I warn anyone against turning a blind eye to this issue, and against taking it further by Al-Anbar Sheikh, Scholars, dignitaries, or by other Iraqis."

He then labels the demands of the Iraqi people as being "fetid" and the demonstrations as being only "bubbles" which will come to an end.

He ends by expressing a clear threats against the demonstrators by stating "We tell them to stop, before being forced to stop by the government."

Geneva International Centre for Justice sent a communication to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and to relevant Special Procedures mandate-holders about these declarations made by the highest political authority of Iraq.

GICJ considers that it constitutes a clear violation of the right of the Iraqi people to demonstrate peacefully and associate freely.
